Alumni from both St. Catharine College and St. Catharine Academy returned to their alma mater during Graduation weekend May 12-14. Graduates from as far away as Oregon visited campus and joined old friends for fun activities and sharing fond memories. A Welcome Reception was held on Campus on Thursday night. Friday morning the Alums were treated to breakfast and then the group was taken by tour bus to Churchill Downs for an exciting day at the races on Millionaire’s Row. Saturday morning many attended Mass on Campus and then the Golden Alumni (graduates of 50 years or more) donned their golden robes and marched in the St. Catharine College Commencement ceremony. Their presence was an inspiration to all, but especially to the members of the 2011 graduating class. After graduation, the Goldens gathered for a luncheon in downtown Springfield where they continued reminiscing, sharing stories, memories and photographs. “We had such a wonderful time with all of our Alumni this year”, said Angela Hoffman, St. Catharine College Director of Alumni & Events. “It’s truly special to see their camaraderie, listen to their history with St. Catharine, and to witness the special bond that they share. We hope more and more graduates will join us each year as the Alumni Weekend tradition continues to grow.”
