Department of Surgical Technology
Be a part of team
Being part of a team is true for almost any health science field but for the department of Surgical Technology this is especially true. Our department works to educate students to become part of a healthcare team that ensures operative procedures are conducted under optimal conditions in two capacities: nonsterile or sterile. In addition, our students are responsible for various phases of patient care, all of this while providing a caring attitude toward the patient and team members. The department also works to develop an increased sensitivity to the influence of ethics in their chosen profession, awareness to all patients’ right to the highest standards and practices, and an unwavering surgical conscience. From a need that was developed in WWII, the profession of surgical technology has grown to meet the continuing demand for well-educated, highly skilled, and versatile men and women who work with the surgeon and other skilled professionals to deliver the highest possible level of patient care.
